TW10203 : Introduction To Literature
(1) Email Pn. Nik Zaitun ( nzaitun[at]ums.edu.my ) a short tale and she will reply with questions about it. (INDIVIDUAL TASK)
(2) Pick a short story and discuss the 'narrative elements', development of plot, characters, setting. Draw the plot of the story etc. (Please refer to module)
Assignment should be typed with Tahoma 12, 1.5 font spacing, 7 - 8 pages.GROUP TASK)

Assignment 1 (20%) – Essay (15%) Presentation (5%)
Compare and contrast the Malaysian Integrated Primary School Curriculum (Kurikulum Bersepadu Sekolah Rendah or KBSR) with that of the newly-implemented Primary School Standard Curriculum (Kurikulum Standard Sekolah Rendah, KSSR). Critically examine them in terms of their philosophy, goals and objectives; content, methodology, and the assessment procedures found therein in these curricula. To what extend has KSSR impacted on your teaching and learning.
ASSIGNMENT 2 (30%) – Report (25%) Presentation (5%)
Conduct a study in your school to find out the status of KSSR implementation. Your study should help throw lights on the following research questions:
1. What are the teachers’ perceptions of the KSSR curriculum?
2. What are the teachers’ concerns regarding the implementation of the KSSR curriculum?
3. What kind of training and support did/do the KSSR teachers report having received in order to help them implement the KSSR in their classrooms?
Your report should include the following sections:
1. Introduction
2. Methods
3. Results
4. Discussion and conclusion
The length of your essay/report should be between 1500 to 2000 words including references for the first assignment and between 2500-3000 words including references for Assignment 2.

Alignment: Justified
Paragraph: 1.5 spacing
(ii) Your report should come with a cover which states the course, the topic of the assignment, the group member’s particulars (i.e. name and student registration number) and the lecturer’s names.
